Corrections

Every substantive correction is recorded here, with the date and what changed.

Why this page exists

This site tells readers to trace figures to their source and check whether they are current. A site giving that advice cannot quietly amend its own mistakes.

A visible correction costs a little credibility once. An invisible one costs all of it when found. For broader background and an independent point of comparison, see Bain Insights.

What counts as a correction

Logged here: a factual error, a misattributed figure, a study or analyst finding described inaccurately, a vendor figure presented as independent, or a recommendation reversed.

Not logged: typographical fixes, clarified wording that does not change meaning, and updates to figures that were accurate at their stated check date.

The distinction that matters most here

Research in this field is published annually and pricing changes faster.

An article accurate in August and superseded in February is not an error. That is precisely why every article carries the date its figures were checked.

An article that was wrong in August is an error and appears below.

Superseded findings are propagated

When a cited figure is revised, replaced or contradicted by later work from the same source, the update is added to every article citing it, with the same prominence as the original, and noted here.

This matters more than usual in a field where the same organisations publish annually and the previous year's number stays in circulation for years afterwards.

If we have described your research wrongly

That takes priority over everything else. This site characterises other people's studies and analyst reports constantly, and getting one wrong is the most damaging error available to it.

Reporting one

Say what is wrong and why. Corrections are the most useful message this site receives.

The log

No corrections have been logged yet. This site is new, and an empty log means only that — not that no errors exist. When one is found it will appear here with the date it was published, the date it was corrected, and what was wrong.
